Pics would certainly help

This is an interesting recipie. I'm trying to work out this 'vertical line' technique of the application of the ingredients.

A picture for each step which moved, showing any particular actions needed would be useful, so that you can give us the best advisce of how to do these things. A Back button would be good, just in case people do skip over, as would the replay button, but you told us about these already. Please give us a mute button in future productions, as the music is not my thing.

I might have to make this pizza snack thing at some point.

Cheers for the helpful review man, the next recipe will be a lot better, pictures will be added and maybe a different selection of music. And a mute button.

Decent Quiz

I think what it really needs is for you to divide it up into the easy, medium and hard questions, rather than give us a few easy, the crank it up to medium and hard, with a few more easy and mediums thrown in there to "mix it up"

Not sure if it's the office computer or not, but I think the pre-loader is slightly screwed - it does the load in about three jumps, with a wait of 5-10 seconds in between. When I clicked the play button, I had to wait a while for the game to start, which was annoying.

Still, you've come up with some good questions, considering I've never played the game, I was almost satisfied with my record of -950 points.

Auz responds:

Well my whole idea behind mixing the diffecult and easy questions was that the quiz was soon gonna get boring if you start off with 20 easy ones. I wanted to keep the quiz interesting from the beginning till the end (as far as quizes can be interesting...).

As for the pre-loader. It also jumps on my computer, but I don´t have to wait after I click the "play" button. So that second thing has something to do with the computer I think. But what I did with NG preloader: I downloaded it and pasted the whole quiz behind it in the .fla file. That´s probably not what you´re supposed to do, so that might´ve caused the jumping. I´ll see if I can fix it.

And as for the -950 points. Well the quiz was made for those that have played the game. That´s why I didn´t want to ask "the usual" stuff, like "where do you get this and that item?" Cause obviously those that have played the game can answer those sort of questions with ease. So I made it more diffecult. If you don´t have the game, you´re deffinatly gonna get a negative score. But I must say, -950 is pretty good :)

Thanks for the review Coop, it was very helpful (and so was milinko´s).

Why am I so bad at this?

Well, you've given us a great example of how to do a "DDR" style game for some other genres. You're not dancing this time, you're playing the guitar.

I still need to wark on my co-ordination, either that or the easiest song was fucking difficult - I got to about 500 fans then bombed.

What you might want to consider is adding a highlight finction, for when you get a note right, I can't focus on the score properly and keep trying to play, I need to look in two different places at once, which isn't good.

Still, a good start, not going to be the contest winner, but Kudos for giving it a good run.

It can be difficult---even for me!

I know this is not going to be first place, but thanks!

One thing I'd do to improve

Seriously, I'd make this like a paint studio, where you can draw the face yourself to dress up. Give them the basic shape of face templates and then they can finalise that before dragging and dropping the items to make it all work.

The two music tracks were decent to put on there, and I think the whole thing worked together quite well.

Where was the pencil / sharp implement supposed to go? It looks as if it was supposed to go through the head, but I couldn't find a space to make everything join up properly.

Frenzy responds:

Yeah, I messed up on the head thing. Thanks for the reviews/suggestions!

What can I say?

Well, some of the pictures explain the piece, but Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly for a track that I think is the Chemical Brothers "Here we go (Superstar DJ)" just doesn't make sense.

Still, the sound quality is mostly top drawer, as the occasional track has a bit of static or bass muffling on it. I'm not sure how to deal with that, but I'm sure you can find out in time for your next submission if needed.

Keep them coming and I'll look forward to reviewing your next piece.

well the reason why i put that is because that is the song for the fad marty steals (blank)
but i guess thanks for the review

In Depth

Wow, this is certainly the most in depth soundboard I've ever come across. I think the music was pointless, with the exception of playing it over the quiz, which was a little too short for my liking - maybe 10 questions, before giving us the WTF surprise at the end.

Still, we're looking at a quality submission here, where you've obviously taken on comments made on earlier submissions. Kudos to you for that. Keep it up and keep on picking decent films for that as well :)

Frenzy responds:

Thanks!

Nice soundboard

This is what we come to expect from a quality soundboard. The sound quality is good and the buttons are set out nicely in easy to read boxes.

Still, there really isn't much you can do on the graphics side of things, except maybe having a different picture for each character's own soundboard. Something to think about for future boards.

Still, you've done another good board, so keep them coming.

A great little game

Well, this is a nice, addictive little number which is a great take on Space Invaders. With a few notable exceptions, this is a pretty decent parody of the 80s classic.

The aliens always used to change, the further you got into the game, each wave was different and the newer aliens worth more points. A little more thinking could give more variation, as I found it quite repetitive after the first wave.

The miscelaneous alien craft that flew overhead occasionally dropped neat little packages for use, like shields, temporary weapon upgrades etc. Maybe that would help, as well as making the turd worth random amounts of points.

Perhaps change the background, so you fight in different areas - remember, planet Earthwas not invaded solely in the state of Utah :P

With these taken into account, I think you've done a good job. A few more hours spent on this one and I'd say it was front page material.

wolfinator-x responds:

The next game I do will have more variety. This was made just for fun.
Hopefully I'll make something better next time!

Please spare me!

I know this is quite an unusual plea for me, but you really have to concentrate on making better looking flash between the pair of you. I've gone through Wolfinator's flash this afternoon and they're nothing special, but they're all better than this. Usually when a collab is made, it's about as good as the animatiors who contributed.

I'm not a fan of this type of animation, so please concentrate your efforts into making better quality flash and getting better laughs. It will benefit you in the long run, trust me.

The jokes are old and unoriginal, flash selection games have been done before and I frankly found this boring. Show off your talents, rather than mither them in this wasteful submission.

kirbynator responds:

Since GBC EPISODE 2 is out, we do better graphics, which is the main thing.
Sorry for being boring.

I'm not convinced

Well, looking at this, you really need to work on the basketball guy. It looks horrible, the way his shadow moves on him when the dribbles the ball. It's not like the light is flickering behind him, so why change the shadows on parts of him that aren't moving?

You are showing newbies to flash how to do the basics, which is good. The problem really comes when you don't quite have the handle on the techniques yourself. Basically what I'm trying to say is practice more first, before wading in and trying to teach people how to do it.

Don't view this as an attack on you personally, there are other people that do this, but if you cna learn to do the stuff right, you can create good tutorials for here.

[Review Request Club]

wolfinator-x responds:

About the stick's shadow: It didn't do that in flash, I dunno why it did it here.

About your second paragraph: These are basic things.

You know, I stopped shaving to think of something to write here. That worked out well.
