Still not a fan...

I still thaink that you can so much better with other games or even an animation series of your own.

There is little proof of your animating skills here to be perfectly honest - you've put some crudely drawn imagery in to keep various people happy, but I would suggest that you spent more time getting the fine details right and producing something overall more fulfilling.

Some of the buttons were so easy to find, because you screwed up the colour or the dot, while others were a very good challenge. Spend time making it a good challenge and the game is a better rounded out level of difficulty.

Thanks, I will upload a few of them and othe rs with sound in a compilation. The next will be easier until halfway through.
Thanks.

Hmm

I've never really been one for tutorials, as I've never really had much of a use for them. I think that you've given a nice selection of information about the use of and manipulation of sprites.

I would have given better information about the how to, with animations of the mouse pointer moving about the screen and showing where to click in an animated form - I'm not really one for seeing the sprites move as they should on an endless loop, to show you what you should be after completing the instructions.

Some sort of musical addition would be nice as well - you can find plenty of ambient in the Audio Portal that you would find suitable

An example and further information on animating. Might be an idea. Yea I could have added a ambient loop to the thing, I will next time.

I'm Hooked

What a great Flash game, that's got all aspects covered - great sounds, awesome playability and the AI is good as well - the computer learns from your best moves. I can see that I'm going to have to download the full version at this rate.

I wish that you could choose from your camera angles though - the overhead is nice, but i would appreciate each player in the game being identified by a little more than just the design of their hat. Giving each player the choice of face would bring much more to the game, as you could start identifying yourself around the place.

What's next for this game? Are you going to come up with a modern day version, where the player starts off as a wannabe internet poker player, before gaining access to a few small time games and eventually getting up to the big poker tournaments? This is where the identity from a face really comes in, as not all modern poker players wear 10 gallon hats.

The only other change that I would ahve made for the game is to have a wider range of voices for the characters, as there is only one for the male characters and one for the females. Granted the accents will probably all be the same, but othe than that, they might sound different to each other.

Youdagames responds:

In this game we have recorded the voice talents of 10 voice actors.
We were not sure how voice would be received in the game.
So we decided to be carefull with it in this version.
However if we are going to do a sequel we will probably use more voices.
The voices are received with much enthousiasm.

Well Done

The main thing that I feared for this poem 'generator' when I first played it was that your voice would sound a little different in tone for each line, but it sounds like you've done well and kept the tone pretty even, allowing the combinations of lines to flow into one another.

What I would suggest is that you maybe do something more for these poems, possibly including a basic background picture for each person's individual choices... that could take quite a lot of images to get working properly, but I think that with the basics that you've shown on the animation front, you should be able to produce that quite quickly.

Vert responds:

You noticed the (relativly) even tone! That's a small detail that few people would perceive, so thanks for noticing and pointing it out.
But do you think that using still images alone would be suficient? I'm not so sure myself... I get the feeling that new interations of flash poems would probably need some movement, specially to please viewers who don't care much for poetry.
Thanks for the review, Coop!

A little simple

But it's got verious deaths in it, which would work great if you could cook them all up into some sort of "The Many Deaths of Boe" - similar to South Park, but he gets killed by all of these things in just the one episode.

I think some have been done before, but the things like the Storm and the Doughnut were great for a quick laugh. I'd certainly consider working on adding more backgrounds, as the Cult one needed something to indicate he was walking along. Little details like this make all the difference to a movie.

When you do get around to drawing the backgrounds, please focus on the detail that you provide - zoom into the picture and use a smaller pointer to paint / draw with. That will give better detail and you will see the differences straight away. Draw the lines in the colour you want, use the eraser to round them off nicely and then the trust fill tool will be there to help with the fun part.

I look forward to either Kill Boe 3 or some movie featuring all of his deaths in one extended plotline :)

Graeme responds:

A Kill Boe 3 is planned. But only in my head.
I have lots of other stuff to do first.

But trust me. The idea/gameplay is being completely reworked into things that are 100% original, with replay value. Not just a quick 2 or 3 minutes for a few quick laughs.

Both!

Simple concept for the game, coupled with the difficulty of certain iamges that you've given us. The best thing that you did for this was removing the colour of the pictures, as that way it really does make it quite a challenge.

I thought that I'd do really well with this game, but first time out, I got 17 of the 21 available, so it proves that under the time limit, you've got to think very fast in order to get the answers right.

A good interface and the only issue that I really had with the whole program was the audio track that you used - it could do with a mute button, just to preserve my sanity :P

Bezman responds:

Thanks for the review!

Looks like most got 17-19. It's really hard for me to judge the difficulty when I took the pics myself, so I'm glad it worked out OK!

If I have half-arsed music on any future submissions, I'll remember the mute button. Sorry about that.

Don't Beg

When you write in your author's comments, please don't ask or tell people to reccomend your flash for a collection - it will get reccomended if it's good enough, trust me.

Thsi program has issues like any other of these cheap parodies. Personally, I think that the system has been completely done to death, until someone comes up with some sort of new program that can actually replace Windows... Oh wait, they already have those, but their success is limited for some strange reason.

Like Little-Rena says, Paint doesn't work properly, because you can actually paint on the background of the 'windows interface' The screensaver is buggy as well, as when it shows you what the program does and I was changing the backgrounds, the screensaver engulfed the whole screen, even while I was trying to work.

OK.

Needs more...

I think this game needs lots more thought - Link isn't even animated for when he moves about the screen. You've got quite a wide area where the characters can interact and even if you are moving away from them, you still get the popup, even if you've used backspace to close the window. A solution to this might be found in the flash forum on this website.

I would suggest that you study the LoZ games more closely and use similar sequences of scenery to make the backgrounds better - without this, the game does look quite shitty overall. I couldn't walk in the shop, which was disappointing. There's plenty of filesize left, so why not use it. I'm also sure that you can find lots of tracks on here which are designed with LoZ in mind, without copping out for Mario tracks, which are overrated.

I hope that my review gives you something to aim for, as I think that you can get a better game made from these sorts of things. Perhaps step back to movies, before making games, as movies have slightly less to think about. That way you can hone your animation skills and suddenly the game doesn't look so bad.

ZiggyZack99 responds:

OK.

Interesting

This game has good graphics and sound, but in my opinion it's a rather 1-dimensional playing interface, just mousing over the targets.

I'd have at least given slightly more time and made the object of the game to pick up the Doeo and deposit them in some sort of recepticle, like a big truck or train, for example. I have absolutely no idea what the Doeo are for or why they were put in this format, but there is something in there that seems to work.

raitendo responds:

Thanks for the review! Wow, if I implemented your idea, the game would definitely get way to complicated. To be honest, I really like the concept as it is :) Thanks for the suggestions though, I appreciate them!

Interesting

Unfortunately, this game lacks enough appeal for me, considering that it is 3 or 4 levels of relatively simple gameplay. You've given us the path to follow and then the start pattern will not appear for the next level, which I think is fucked up somewhat.

The whole 'secret button to win' is absurd - I get the feeling that it would be more rewarding just to close the window and move on at times.

I'd certainly reccomend that you add an audio track to the game, just to try and keep our interest in it. Some sort of short loop would be sufficient, as this game runs for an indeterminate length of time - alternatively you pick a tune that is exactly the time limit of the game, just shutting off when people lose, for example.

[Review Request Club]

Bezman responds:

Thanks for the review and for clarifying your thoughts via PM.

The 'secret button' is something that should be reached via the paths - which are essentially just clues to help you find it. I guess I could have explained that better.

Audio is a great idea - I missed a trick there, for sure. Audio feedback would definitely help...

You know, I stopped shaving to think of something to write here. That worked out well.
