Controls are backwards

Not a bad concept, but the controls are backwards - for traditional users, pressing down would accelerate the block downwards, while pressing up would rotate it. Not only that, but when you press right, the block moves left. Not a major flaw in the plan, considering that the wheel continues to turn and this rights itself partway through the game, but it can get confusing, trying to deal with all of the controls changing about as the game goes on.

Not a bad little tune to go with the piece, but you might have done better with a few other versions, giving you a more varied approach to it all, complete with choices for the discerning listener.

Nice layout and a pretty addictive game, because it's Tetris, but with a twist, for the veteran player that wants to make more of a splash with the game itself.

Informative, but...

I think that this is an informative tutorial that can help people make a decent looking flash production. I think that you could do with making the previous and next buttons into a proper button, as opposed to just clicking on the words themselves - this can get quite frustrating.

I can see from the tutorial that you know how to make buttons, so it's going to need a little extra surrounding area, just to make the whole word into a button, which will then come along with making the tutorial more interesting and informative.

You could possibly include some pictures, showing what you mean, in places, so that the piece doesn't look like a dodgy powerpoint presentation with music attached.

Okay thank you, I will work on the buttons, my next maze game is underway, and when I am better(Know how to disable left/right mouse), I will surely make a more advanced tutorial :). Thanks again.

Happy Turkey Day!

A well designed, easy to control, rather violent little game, in celebration of one of the most bland of meats available on the market today.

I think that this is certainly one of your best, as the drawing style looks better than usual and the animation is smooth and well controlled. I wish that the turkeys did more though, as some of the regular ones could do with being able to attack you, to give more of a sense of urgency to the player.

I think that there could have been a punchline at the end - you're going to need a bigger oven, or something like that. It just seemed too abrupt, so given that and a couple more little tweaks, you could certainly get yourself a very nice looking piece of flash to run with.

Enjoyable and complex

A fascinating game concept that is reasonably challenging to control, combined with being a great laugh to play for a few minutes. I quite enjoyed the multi-faceted elements of the game that you can play, combined with the way that the varying nasties thrown into play can get you in a mix.

The graphics are great, as you can see the reflections on the surface of the bubble working away, which is a really nice touch. The other graphics are good and the music chosen has certainly got the qualities of sounding "watery" and a slightly annoying repetitiveness to it. Overall, this is a good game and I look forward to seeing what else you can come up with.

I didn't get all the way through it, but after seeing the blowfish, I'd have suggested some sort of shark chasing you could make for a fun level, as you run for your life against it.

I've seen better

But then again, I've seen a lot worse.

I think that this game is simple and not very well drawn, but you have engineered a good engine that can control such a game. Better drawing skills can be worked on over time and taking into consideration techniques, such as zooming in, using a slightly smaller drawing tool to make your levels, you will find it more rewarding, as the levels and designs you produce look more detailed and are part of bigger and better games.

I'd certainly suggest that you look at backgrounds, since that's where this piece falls down - a standard white background isn't very intriguing and offers nothing additional to plot line, or insight into the levels themselves. Perhaps you could couple that with some sound effects for the bounce of the ball and then for the deaths of the ball. Combined with a set number of lives in the engine and you've got the recipie for some massive strides forward with your game.

Thanks! I will work on these things on the next game I make.

Not bad

Okay, so I've got a few more attacks that you could use:

* 10 ton weight
* flamethrower
* tag team
* "call in a favour" - Mafia boss guns him down, after a phone call from Audunn
* black hole

I'd have found a different sound effect for the shovel - it should have a metallic ringing sound to it, for the complete effect. Perhaps a few lingering pieces of damage, so that you can do combos and make it look so much funnier.

I'm not too sure about the background, but the options to switch to things like a Japanese style dojo would be really cool. Trying things out like that, plus background music will really bring your pieces onward.

Finally, try a little more with the drawing style - try to get all of the eyes to look similar - some are dots, others are 'goofy' looking circles with off-centre circles for irises. If you need to, use the circle drawing tool for that, to simplify.

Quite challenging

Not a bad little game - good improvements and a well made engine, this is certainly a decent challenge that reminds me of Shrek. Of course, if it were an officially licensed game, there would be an Eddie Murphy voice over the top spouting out wise cracks if you made a mistake, or being completely over the top with congratulations if you got the end of the course.

The way that the constituent parts of the game board get mixed in for each level is a nice touch - I think that it could be improved by having a tutorial level, rather than taking up half the game with the introduction of extra bits and pieces.

Still, it's a marked improvement on the last one that you submitted - the free play and timed play option is great, plus the sped up donkey means that you don't get bored between levels, which is always a bonus. Perhaps a bigger variety of ambient music would help, since only one track can be a little obstructive.

Nice little game

Vinny, you've got a certain flair when it comes to making good little games. The concept is quite simple, but it's very effective. I'd suggest that you do more for the introduction and give us a good run up to playing this piece, but other than that, it's pretty easy to master.

I thought I'd cracked it first time, but I was quite dismayed when the pumpkin turned into a ghost and got me. A nice sting in the tail, I feel and something that I probably should have known was coming.

A nice selection of music, a pretty simple control setup and overall quite a nice game.

I still consider myself a n00b when it comes to actionscripting. There's so much i'd love to learn about actionscripting.

after the Ghost... there's the angry ghost who is probably the toughest out of the 3 that you face. I will have more games on the way. I appreciate your reviews. Very helpful thanks.

Addictive, but annoying

It's not a bad game and I look forward to when you can get Medals uploaded to this game,a s that will make it even more addictive. I think that you've got a good system built here that certainly compliments your idea of the cartoon series and just gets even more people into the state of wanting that type of cartoon.

Some of the game setup is a little ambiguous, as I was trying to climb up the walls and when I reached the top, I was still crushed, or "tetris'd" by blocks adjacent to my position, which was a little annoying to say the least. I'm thoroughly addicted, so I kept coming back for more though.

Keep it coming and I look forward to seeing the piece with medals available to one and all.

A good romp

While this pack has some very good destructive qualities - the new ammunition is much appreciated just to finish off the last of the medals - there are still a few issues with the actual physics of the game.

I'd have to say that the components of the castles could do with suffering damage when they get hit by the projectiles and of course when a person gets hit by the flying debris or projectiles, they are more likely to be reduced to a bloody smear on the ground, especially if they are being landed on by some massive girders that people incorporate into the sturdier castles that appear here.

Perhaps a second version of the original game is called for - turn based strategy that involves attacking castles, which try to defend themselves - force the kings to surrender without killing them, by wiping out their troops or destroying key parts of the castles, for example.

Also, if you had it in the turn based format, you could come up with things like opposing kings deciding to attack your lands and even offering you handsome rewards to switch allegiances throughout? These are a few bits and pieces to think of when you consider that the game can become so much more with relatively little effort.

You know, I stopped shaving to think of something to write here. That worked out well.
