A few issues

It's not a bad quiz, with some decent questions, which can't pose too much of a problem to users prepared to look at the FAQ, the forums and the like to get their answers.

The one question that you posed in Hard mode has a real issue with the fact that the maths is wrong - 30 per day for 516 days does not equal 17,500 B/P, which is the requirement for Colonel, the corresponding badge. A little trial and error will find the answers if you're desperate for getting further in the quiz, but it's not really what I was after.

A good selection of music and it all fits together quite well.

I'll check out this wrong question. Thanks for pointing it out.

Interesting game

I like the way that some of the stick deaths are incorporated into this whole game for the failure part - a great way to show exactly what you did to mess up this time, I feel.

Perhaps the walking animation of all of the sticks could have been sped up a little, just to give a less boring part between the one part and the next, as Lance walks from place to place.

A decent plot and some good backing music to keep everything happy, but I think that you could have done a little more, rather than just keeping it so short and leaving at at such a cliff-hanger.

It really was just something I'd been meaning to finish. I'd started and stopped and restarted from scratch so many times. I just really wanted to get it off my back now, and i'm proud of it just purely because of the difference between the two. Thanks for the review.

Test Menu?

Well, as a menu, I can't fault it - you've got the buttons all planned out and have made it look like there's actually something to view. A shame that when you click, it brings up the pop up of the actual trailer you did.

Congratulations, your test was a success. We need to look at applying this to the bigger picture and from there, getting towards the real thing that you've got us waiting for. I want to see the finished product, but this sort of thing is just wasting time and getting people tense about how the saga will pan out.

Oh Coop how I love you :)
Yes I agree I shouldn't have spent my time on this...
Oh well time lost, still it may prove useful later...

Anyway thanks for the review sorry for the late response...

Has a few issues

It's not a bad animation to be honest, though I would suggest that you work on the game mechanics slightly - there are issues with jumping over the water - when you drop off the vine, if you so much as touch the water, you die. The sound effect for the death was a little on the loud side, compared to the precedent you set with the sound effect for the jumping.

The other main issue I have is the way that when you come to a ladder, you lose score for dropping down - you should be able to stand on the ladder and climb down, without your score dropping.

The graphics are good, the concept is well devised and overall, it is a nice game. I can see this going further.

much thanks. i think what i need to do is also add a sound effect for "falling". another thing i might try is letting the users customize the sound volumes etc. again i am learning AS3 (well still 6 months into it), and my bag of tricks isnt huge yet.

thanks for the encouragement and ill look more into what else i can add. if anything could you also put up some links to any other ideas/tutorials i could implement.

Good joke

I think that the game itself needs some work, but the joke writing was funny, even if only for a relatively cheap laugh.

I think that some of the walls were too thin, with the way that you could push the dot of your character up to the wall and effectively pass through it part of the way. Asking a few questions in the flash forum or checking out a few game tutorials would help this piece immensely.

The final thing I would suggest is that you make some progress with what you use to represent the characters - put some arms on them, to make them look more like a person from the top down, for example. Making the arms and legs move would certainly make this look a lot better - perhaps try spending more time drawing the scenery, as that leaves a lasting impression on the people that view the flash and actually play the game.

Perhaps you need to make it morte of a challenge as well - I found it easy to complete, with minimal effort.

Not bad

This game has a few addictive qualities although the amount of strain it puts on my forearm while trying to control the arrow keys solely with my left hand means the game should probably carry a health warning :P

Quite a basic concept, but I like it - there are certain types of puzzle games out there similar to this that cater to different tastes, but I like the base of the puzzle game - I've suggested this for the puzzles collection,a s a result.

An easy to use interface and what could certainly turn into hours of fun!

Thanks for the comments everyone, puzzle genre is new for us so keep your eyes opened:)

A good start

I can certainly see this becoming a decent game, if the time and effort is invested in it. I think that you didn't spend enough time explaining the setup of the game - the way it is set out looks like water will counter wood and air will counter fire, when if you go backwards around the wheel, water counters fire and ice (?) counters wood.

Perhaps you could switch to the traditional four element system - Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Wood just seems like a remnant of the Chinese system, which needs to be either taken out completely, or embraced, so that you have five elements in play.

I hope that you come back to this and try some more, it will be worth it!

iKonicStudios responds:

Thanks a lot for reviewing this :)

I'm slightly confused with what you are saying, so I will try to explain what I was doing. It is only a four element system. It has earth, air, fire, and water. If you hit earth with fire, it remove earth. If you hit water with air it removed water. If you hit fire with water it removes fire. If you hit air with earth it removes air. I don't where wood and ice are coming from. Was it how I explained it in game that got a bit confusing?

As for coming back to finish it, I'm not so sure. Read the response to the review below this for a better explanation on that.

Again, thanks for the review!

Addictive

This particular game is jam packed with the sort of cut and thrust archery that keeps you coming back for more - getting the achievements in game is tough enough and the Newgrounds medals on top of that are difficult but fun to try and get.

I'm not entirely sure how much of a benefit the armours are, but it's a well thought through system linking them to the achievements. Perhaps another way to do it is to have them available for the survival mode when you've unlocked so many achievements, for a start, but when you're in the shop, you should be able to buy them in the campaigns. Perhaps this would require more gold being dropped in the game to cope with the extra budget required.

xdragonx10 responds:

Thanks,

The armor effects are told in the descriptions when you scroll over them in the achievements screen. For the sequel I'm actually planning to have them bought in the shops while you're in the campaign mode, a lot of people haven't had the chance to see them.

Error!

Well, the sad things about this flash is that most of these error messages are actually true. I don't speak of experience of Mac or Linux users, but from my many years as a slave to the harsh regime of William Gates, I feel that I must speak out at every given opportunity.

A nice layout (Ah, the DOS format of the menu screen really brings back nostalgic memories *wipes away a tear*) and some well presented computer set ups that capture exactly what a working computer is supposed to look like. Now that this is working perfectly, we can load *chime* Perfect timing helps there, which you've given us.

All I can say is that you're going to plumb for more cynical errors and come back with another version which has even more funnies to keep us chuckling along, blissfully unaware that it could happen to us at any mo-

AntoArts-Admin responds:

2010 will have at least double as many errors and around 10 error games!

Rock on!

A great little game with addictive qualities, involved with rocking out to the max. Iron Maiden's tour was a brilliant idea, conceived by Bruce Dickinson's love of aviation and making a game out of it has only made the tour even more epic.

I like the blend of music that you've put in there, although I'd suggest that you make it a little louder, so that we can enjoy the track at an audible volume, possibly increasing it like you did when you acquire more rockers?

The only thing I'd give is some photos of the stadium gigs that they did on the infamous 'Flight 666 Tour', so that you can show how well received the gig was.

Also, it seems completely impossible to drop a speaker that will get the first Aussie on Australia 1 - perhaps a little difficult for those of us searching for perfection.

Matmi responds:

have you realised that you can loop the loop and fly in both directions?

the only limitation is the amount of fuel you use per level but that can be upgraded as you go.

p.s. as regards the stadium photos, have you spotted the sneak preview videos of the flight 666 tour that you unlock as you go through the game?

ahh, you can't beat freebies! ;)

You know, I stopped shaving to think of something to write here. That worked out well.
