Not a fan of darwing the circles...

This game is a really effective one, with one small fault - drawing the outlines around the bacteria is really difficult, so you run out of time by about level 5. Perhaps just drawing a line through the bacteria would be better?

The graphics are simple and effective and as a whole it really works. Will you be coming up with more of these games, or just leaving this as a one-off?

Maybe for a future version, change the mouths for each level - we're not looking at the same guy's mouth each time are we? Yuck!

Not bad

The plot is a little linear, as with most platform games, sadly. I'd like to see better graphics and also an easier way around the first boss - break the player in gently, with a first boss that has an easy way around, then crank it up on the second one.

I have no idea what those bad guy things were, they looked kind of like ambient turds, wandering around the place. I'd reccomend that you get more different kinds of enemies, which act differently. It looks like you've borrowed a bit from Super Mario and Sonic - the two classic platform games. Look at their different arrays of enemies and work from that.

The drawing style will improve as you go on, so I look forward to seeing your next submission.

Thanks for the review. The plot, I thought, was original but simple and in my next game I could amke a plot a bit more interesting. The graphics, I thought were good but I guess I still need to improve my drawings :) I wanted to make the first boss hard so that the player wants to play it again, to beat him but I see where you are coming from.

The bad guys in the first part of the game were rocks that you could find in the desert. Later on in the game, there are other types of enemies, who can be seen on the main menu and instructions. I will take your opinion into mind and add more variety of enemies in my next game.

Thanks again for the review :)

Simple and addictive

This game is quite a simple concept, but it is really enthralling. Some of the movement patterns on the blocks is really annoying, as you move the mouse to where they were and by that point, they've moved. sometimes it's infuriating.

A great game, but it could really have done with some sound, as it's the type of game that doesn't look complete without the occasional annoying ping :P

I note that this was submitted back in 2003 - any plans to make a newer version of this game, or will you just try something different?

AcidDimensions responds:

Glad you liked!

Yeah - you need to anticipate movements and move to where they're going!

Skears 2 will be released in March 2009, by which time I'll have made 100 Non-Skears-related Games. (The NSG series). It's been in development for a while, and I reckon I could already get an award with it. But I'm aiming for top 50. ;-)

Mini Skears 3/4 do have sound, though the implementation leaves something to be desired. I'll be using variations of the same theme tune, but.... changed and with more interaction.

Thanks for the review!

Rock on!

While I may have been shite at getting the lyrics right (350 points), I'm overal impressed with this game. Maybe it needs songs that I've actually heard of, for me to do better, but the gameplay and graphics are great. The only way I could have seen this being better is have an "easy mode" which is multi-choice (For those of us who have no idea about the song in question)

I like the fact that you put shots of the album covers in (or single covers, as they may have been, plus the interesting facts.

Will we see any further incarnations of this style game, or is it back to "Pussy or Raw Meat" for you guys?

Awesome take on Newgrounds

Well, this is an amazing take on the NG Staff page. I would have loved it if they'd have added the Admin's own voices for that page, but that's beside the point.

It's a very informative way to show the NG user community exactly what goes on with regards to levels, whistle level, B/P rank and everything you ever wanted to know about the admins, but were too afraid to ask.

I wish that you'd give us a quick tour of getting B/P points and then we could really call this complete!

Coolly Theraputic

This is a completely engrossing game, similar to its predecessors, but with a few differences. The music is well suited to this style of game and it wears well, even though certain games can last for more than 5 minutes, it stays bearable, where most games fail to make the grade.

The playability is decent, with hours of seemingly endless fun to be had by the user. The only thing it really lacks is the "Game of four winds" version. I quite like the way you've not given us a shuffle tiles option - it means that we can do the game if we go back far enough. That's a nice extra challenging element.

Needs more features.

I personally quite like the game, but I'm not really happy with the fact you have to right-click to get your menu. Maybe you could do the following:

1) Make the display window bigger - the style felt really cramped and I've seen bigger windows before.

2) Give us a Heads Up Display. This would be able to show us the available tools for the villa and could give you nifty little things like a spreadsheet to show your cashflow. (To display the factors about certain villas, you could make it an option to click upon the villa for more info)

3) Put the writing over one solid colour. Without this, I find that some of the text overlaps the roads and I cannot read text that is the same colour as the road.

4) Speed control. I note that the previous reviewer thought it was going too slow. I thought it was going too fast, as tenants were moving in and out before I had a chance to take this on board. Being able to slow it down during the infancy of the project is a real boon, as you cna manage more efficiently.

5) A calender. With one of these, we could see a more accurate perception of how the time goes and could adjust prices accordingly for the holiday seasons, when villas are in demand and off peak seasons, when they are not.

I'll leave you with those to go on, it should help you out, because it's a good game really.

Needs work

This scene creator is really a dressup by another name. For some reason, it's very memory intensive with the computer, so it tends to lag heavily for me, even when the sound is switched off (How annoying is that track by the way)

I'd love to see this really become a proper scene creator, when you can actually animate the characters and produce some amateur footage of Madness.

AntoArts-Admin responds:

Yeah.... The lagging is going to be killed (give me a gun!).... MSC III will be far more powerfull than this, so wait a few months, it will come in 08!

And, the lagging is just a minimal part of the things that're going to be fixed/added/improved....

Interesting game

This game looks quite simple and very addictive. I'm impressed.

What I think you could use is a level system - maybe adding more green and red blocks, to make it more entertaining and perhaps some pop up powerups, allowing you to slow down the red block or some dummies which speed the green one up, for example.

Are you planning on releasing a second version of this game (It's a little short for my liking) Possibly also give us a music on / off button, combined with a few sound effects (Good for scoring points, bad for losing them etc.)

Koeberto190 responds:

I was wondering if you were going to review this, and thanks for the review.

I was going to do a V2 but I've been busy making other flashes, I'll get around to it eventually. I really like the idea of pop up power ups, and some fake ones, so I'll try and add that in. I know its short and it didn't have much, but I didn't know that much actionscript at the time, it will be longer and have more levels when V2 comes around.

Well done piece

This is a really nicely designed soundboard. I loved the picture of the burning guitar and the sacrifice that it symbolises.

The buttons are all the same size, which is good - a lot of soundboards I see have different sized buttons, because they contain different length phrases, but you've put the crux of what it is in the box, so we still know, without writing the whole damned sentence out.

Sat in the office at lunch, getting ready to review it, I was quite taken aback to hear TNT by AC/DC play (it drew a few looks from colleagues, thanks :P) Personally, I'd have gone with either School of Rock as the music for it or Immigrant Song, by Led Zeppelin.

Frenzy responds:

Ha ha, thanks for the review! Yeah, I was going to use the School Of Rock Music for the theme song, but it was a very big file so I decided to go with something a little smaller. I'm glad to see that you liked the soundboard, thanks again for the review!

You know, I stopped shaving to think of something to write here. That worked out well.
