Lacking effort

So I've instantly won a paintbrush? Well, it's on;y a picture, so I wish that I didn't have to go through the indignity of winning something that I'll never actually be able to use.

The lip-sync was absolutely awful, with no regards to where the sound was, so half the time there was no sound and the images of the character is still there, flapping lips, apparently taking to itself.

With the flashing screen at the start, it would be a good idea to tone that down a little, as it's just the visual equivalent of white noise, so toning it down and perhaps adding some sort of harp based fanfare, you would give us a much more enjoyable perception of having won something.

I respect your opinion. But please get a sense of humor will ya?

Too simple

I think that this piece needs to be taken further, preferably by developing how blood splatters really work, then adding this to your piece. Without wanting to sound harsh about your drawing style, the stick figures looked bad, but it really could have done with using the madness characters if you could draw them so well. Concentrating on how you draw your protagonists will really help the look of the flash.

More methods of killing could be useful - Acme rockets, Anvil dropped on head, torn to shreads by wild dogs, that sort of thing, possibly even the Monty Python foot off Doom, that descends from the top of the screen to crush the whole scene, just for a laugh, perhaps.

That's just a few ideas for you, so that you can hopefully take it further.

Murad136 responds:

Haha, thanks for the ideas! I never thought of the funny aspect! Well, I'll be honest, I didn't really try hard on the stick firgures, because if I did it would have taken me 1 extra week, and I was anxious to release this one! Thanks for the review, everything has been taken to mind!

Interesting

I think what you need about this sort of game is a function to turn it into something more. Once you've dressed up Obama how you want him, you should be able to press a button to remove the HUD and show the image in all of its glory. Then you could press a few buttons for some speeches of his to pump through and maybe give an opportunity to make a newspaper headline out of it.

Still, the basics are good and when I had Obama standing there, dressed as Batman, with the campaign slogan "LOLWTF :)", I felt I could take America forward.

So incredibly boring

I've seen your flash before and this, sadly is not one of the best. You could have had the text box come up with how to make this sort of thing, literally a text based version of an actionscript tutorial, that would have taken up a few more pages :P

I think that you needed some sort of sound for this, perhaps either a backing track selection or the dodgy Windows Live Messenger tone. That would have really pissed me off!

Ah.

Interesting...

I think this is too simple a flash to really give it a much higher score. Endless Handbag Loop is such an obvious choice of music for anything relating to Newgrounds - you should have given a few more ambient tracks to select from and the options to switch between track and even to tur the music off completely. I'm not sure how many people would use the mute button, but I'm sure that people have different opinions, so you'll never know exactly what the score is.

As for the cool points system, it needs to be expanded more - what about the portal, for example? Do you vote on flash movies? What are your voting habits etc? I scored 23, but I'm sure it could have been more in a fully expanded Quiz. Also, what do the scores mean? Give us a description of what having 23 cool points means to the user who scores it. You could say "0-10, you're either new to NG or you haven't grasped the rules properly yet. Practice on your spelling and grammar and try exploring other forums than General.", for example.

You could make some sort of sliding scale and rate a user via the Blam / Protect Pico images, that would work great.

Ah, yes. You'll have to talk to Tramps. Also, this is BBS points. Also, this is BBS points. Also, this is BBS points. Also, this is BBS points.

All hail the shiny thing!

A catalogue of interesting pieces, which border from the funny images to the interestingly narrated pieces about a certain wizard story.

I have to say that the 'buy it now' option could have had a few better options, such as an amazingly either overpriced or underpriced checkout system. There's plenty more room for jokes in there.

Needs more animation, for my liking.

ZiggyZack99 responds:

OK, I'll think about that.

Bad

Let's face it, I'm going to be one of the so-called "Whiny assholes" that you refer to in this flash. It's too short, it's not really a game and it needs sound.

I think that with practice, your animation will improve, but you need to expand upon the bits and pieces that you've sorted out for the flash in the first place. You;ve got about 11 months to go until Madness Day 2009, so if you get cracking now, you'll have learnt so much more about things like motion tweening (You need this in the flash, to get the motion between the frames for the bullets, for example), and other parts of general animation sorted out. Adding sound would be a great idea. Do a search for audio with the theme of Madness and add that to the flash, to instantly get something good going.

Murad136 responds:

Thanks. Actually I've already started on my Madness Day 09 flash, it's going to take me a while to make. Well thanks for the honest opinion, and yeah your right, I've had loads of practice and I defiantly have improved! Thanks!

Awesomely devious

A great game, based around an award winning miniseries. Great stuff, as we have all come to expect from one of the masters of the craft of Flash Artistry. Keep up the good work, Michael!

You've gone so in depth about this, it's almost like playing a flash version of Command and Conquer. Loved the way that you made the goons salute you, when you mouse over them.

The different bases are quite diverse and you've certainly put a lot of thought into things like cliches, particularly from the James Bond sort of industry. I would suggest that when you take on missions in other parts of the world, that the victims don't speak with American accents - the European one does have quite a few accents to choose from, especially picking on those French!

The only thing that I really get a little bored of in the game is the generation of cash - 4 different missions across 4 different continents isn't really enough, considering that the science tree actually will give you some other reward for completing that part, but then that is one of the main focuses of the game.

I look forward to Blockhead 11 with baited breath :D

Well worlked game

A well designed and well presented game, this has quite a deep storyline and a plethora of special features - I think it could have done with a tutorial to show you things you can do, like clicking on students to talk to them - I didn't realise that until most of the week was gone, sadly.

Still, it's a good game, with good playability and addictive qualities. Given a good amount of time, I can see people becoming addicted to this game and playing it to death.

Good game

A nice game that has all of the features of the traditional ball cannon shooter, but it really does need another major gimmick to set it apart from the rest of the crop. I like the idea of the additional B-O-M-B balls that you can fire and collect, as it's a new feature, but not something really ground breaking.

Good graphics, a nicely addictive, but not too annoying soundtrack and a decent twist with a pirate theme.

Perhaps you should put a level map up and show us how far the pirate has got towards the treasure? Maybe a few levels where you ahve to beat rival pirates who are also after the booty?

Thanks for the review and the feedback. We really appreciate it.

You know, I stopped shaving to think of something to write here. That worked out well.
