Gimmie an H!

Ah, so Skiploom has evolved into Hitler's personal cheerleader. What an interesting change.

I quite liked Hitler's disguise today, which seemed to only be missing a ra-ra skirt, although this may be taking things a little too far.

Good to see the little animated .gif, but I want to see more animation - maybe have Hitler march onto the flash at least, because I know that you can animate!

No way!

Buh...

Practise is the key. Tell your friend that. Do you use a tablet, or a mouse to draw them?

Aside from that, I'm not sure about the tactics for this flash - the drawing quality is poor (obviously) and you have shown that you've got more talent than this (not difficult), by drawing the outlines. I'd try and get something proper together, just to prove that you can really get the job done.

I was so dumb struck, I couldn't even bring myself to watch the remainder of the flash itself - I watched the Cow and Rabbit, but reasoned that they wouldn't get any better.

Graeme responds:

I don't think he aspires to be any sort of artist. He just draws when he has to.
But everything I do is with a mouse. I don't own a tablet.

Indeed the quality of the flash wasn't the greatest. This was a side project that didn't take very long, and I really enjoyed making it.
We talked about making a sequel, and spending more time on it. But it sounds like he'd rather not have to draw any more than necessary. And I myself would rather work on a few solo things for awhile.

Thanks for the review

Nice music

I loved the use of Prokofiev in the build up, although I've never seen that piece as particularly hate filled, despite it being the Montagues and Capulets from Romeo & Juliet :P I've always viewed it as more industrial working, belching out smoke and steam. Mind you, you did manage to capture that essence as well.

The love blimp must have some strange sort of gas within, if it can change the attitudes of these obviously male blimps so easily. Some sort of pheromones? Do they make ones that make women drop everything and chase after you? Can you put me in touch with a supplier?

Simple drawings, but I would suggest that you zoom in and use a smaller tool to draw the images - gives you better control and more clarity when you return to the normal size and it makes your lines look better, as well.

Thanks for the review. I haven't heard the song in the context of Romeo & Juliet. I just had it on CD, and I think it was a song on an old videogame (Asterix and Obelix and the Power of the Gods, or something like that =p). I kind of thought of it with the deep strings and the slow processional march feel, but the great thing about it is the interpretation. To be honest, I never actually saw the blimps as having specific genders (despite fighting and war associated with males and pink and love associated with women), so I didn't think of it as the flirtaceous loveblimp wooing over the men with her channel no. 5. And I'm sorry to say that if there were a gas that made women drop everything and run after you, you probably would have known about it by now =P.

The drawing: Yeah, I'm not the overly artistic type, I went for the undertoned rough look because it was quick and (kind of) stylish. I could have gone into more detail, but it was just a quick animation I threw together. Anything I might attempt in the future will be neater. Thanks for the tips.

Cheers.

Boulevard of broken dreams.

A nice idea, conveyed really well. I'm not exactly sure about the animation style, but for some reason it seems to work, even though my eyes and my brain say it really shouldn't.

The concept is original, as there always seems to be one fat bald guy playing football in the amateur leagues on a Sunday morning. He naturally is going to think that he's a god of the game and that anyone who disagrees can be trampled underfoot.

The punchline was delivered so well, without even a pause. I love the way that the radio is playing the same tune, but you removed the bass from it - it sounds great.

Once he's out cold in the bath tub, I'd have his wife (obviously not as glamorous walk in, turn off the shower, take the football away and shake her head, before turning off the radio and leaving the room.

Hahha ah :D
Thankyouhs :]

Funny stuff

I like the way that you've got three teenage girls chasing after one ordinary looking guy. It's so ironic, it's almost believable :P

I think that your animation style is nicely planned out and the delivery of the punchlines was good, if a little repetitive, with the dense, uneducated manner of the main character.

When the three randy girls walk off at the end, I'd certainly consider making their legs move, rather than moving them like chess pieces, or dolls. This was really the only major issue with the flash itself, so good work overall.

PostTimeskipSam responds:

Thanks, the ending part really I just was too lazy and made them jump like that although I should have made it a bit more realistic rather then like you put it 'They were sorta like chess pieces." So I'll work on a more visually and well animated ending for my next animation.

Car Salesman sells CD?!

What a great little idea. The traditional car-salesman type, but robot formed, attempts to sell a CD of pirate songs.

I loved the sound effects on the voice, with the little echo and the way that the Southern (Georgia) accent seemed to fit in so well with the personality of the robot.

I'd have reccomended a splash for when the CD is flung into the water, plus maybe a little more attention to detail with the splash of water - it looked too lazy for it to be real, hanging in the air for maybe half a second too long.

I'd have said a better location for the commercial would ahve been a pirate ship, but I can see the symbolism of the 'treasure island' and that worked well enough.

DarkenedDecay responds:

Thanks, I was going for a Texas accent but close enough! XD

The splash was kinda lazy, next time I'll be sure to work on things like that a little more.

A pirate ship! Why didn't I think of that!? That would have been awesome! "Dang man, I can't do nuttin right."

Organised Chaos

This was quite a random beginning, but it did have a nice little plot to it. I quite liked the flames that sprang up around the monster once that axe was embedded in his back.

I did at first think that I was in for a whole host of randomness when I first saw it, but the whole flash, while not exactly the best drawing and animation style, did seem to convey the patchy plot reasonably well.

If you spent more time drawing the monsters, you'd be in line for higher marks, which I think you're capable of. Of course, the flash itself would need to be longer, with a longer plot to cope with this new expectation.

Ying-yong responds:

Thank you for the review.

The plot was sort of made on the fly as it was just going to be some random chaos with no plot to explain it. Glad you liked it.

You know when you've been tangoed!

A decent little animation, with a simple layout for the animation in the ease of your drawing style.

I liked the black and white set-up and adding the colour to it only served to make it better. I would advise that you try to give us more plotline, as these gags are good for maybe one or two re-runs, but after a while they get quite samey. Coming up with something with a more detailed plotline means you could set up a series and keep yourself in a progression of that for a while.

I'm not sure how this drawing style would translate into other similar flash, but there is only one way to find out and that is to produce more and let me see them.

MinusNick responds:

Thanks for the awesome review! I have a few ideas for this guy, and hopefully they turn out good, too!

You know, I stopped shaving to think of something to write here. That worked out well.
