Weevil + Ghostmas = ?

An interesting appearance for Blockhead's third annual Ghostmas Spectacular, I have to say.

The funfair looked quite scary, in its run-down fashion, but I do think that the whole thing was well drawn (as always, I can never fault your drawing or animation styles) I personally loved that fact that the Conscience got into the Ghostmas swing of things, by actually putting on a costume this year. Is he starting to mellow, or what?

I'm really looking forward to episode 11, this series is really coming into it's own, with the Ghostmas specials - perhaps you should consider doing something for Easter (Eggfest) next year :P

I want to add that you're an incredible reviewer and I don't know how I missed this one. I sometimes read an entire page of reviews and then decide to address a single point on that page in particular within one review, rather than repeat it in all of them. If I missed this one, its testament to the failure of that system :(

Anyway, as for the Conscience. Bear in mind, he says he has his "Halloween" costume, not Ghostmas. He's already seen at least two Ghostmases in the past, probably more, so I don't think he'd be visibly angry about it. I mean, his anger isn't uncontrolable...it's justified. I can't have him getting pissed off at everything, or else the moments when it matters would be less emphatic :D He's not really mellowed out, he's just conditioned to accept it. In the future, Ghostmas would have to be practiced in a totally inappropriate fashion for it to offend the Conscience (hint hint!)

Could have been funnier

If you'd have stolen the concept of 'ghostmas' from Blockhead, but it's a decently applied plotline, with all things considered.

Really need to work on the background. Such an understated piece of a flash presentation looks so wrong, when it's not there. Plus, what the fuck is KM?

I like how you got the four friends with different sounding speakonia voices - that really works for something like this and gives it a touch of the Clock Crew about it.

Frenzy responds:

Never seen 'Ghostmas'

KM is the program I use. Only have the demo, so I can't get rid of it.

Doing differnet backgrounds is awkward, I'll probably do it in thd future though.

Thanks for the review!

Nice buildup

Well, it's a very Mortal Kombat style flash, complete with a similar reaction to if you fail to break the bar of some description.

Why not do a sequel - one where he hits a button instead and a giant boxing glove emerges from the floor and whacks him in the nuts. That would be funny.

To be perfectly honest, I feel that the guy's head was too small in comparison to the rest of his body. Just a small (pun intended) observation which you might want to address before the next flash.

Dude, that's a genius idea! It seems like I'm good at buld ups, but I lack good endings.

Close, but not quite right.

The bigger cause of Global Warming is the cows belching and releasing methane into the atmosphere. This is a worse greenhouse gas than Carbon Dioxide.

However, I'm willing to believe that the stuff you've done here is saying a decent message. Loved the expression on the Cow's face while it was shitting, plus the Arabic cows (Shouldn't they be camels or Yaks :P)

I felt really sorry for the Polar Bear at the end, as he couldn't really do anything about his predicament, much like Polar Bears in our own world :(

Imacow responds:

Well cows are sacred in India, so.. there ya go.

Beautifully brutal

I love the way this flash and the music blends so well. Where can i really begin to explain my joy at watching this?

The 3-D wraparound shots of the spaceship was amazing, considering the detail put into the characters drawings, with the shading taken into account. I like the way that the rough, straight edges of the ship contrasts with the soft edges of the space explorers

I love seeing all of the different creatures on this new planet - very well thought out and drawn. You've clearly spent time thinking how they will move and what sort of facial expressions are necessary for the orange thing with a black head. (Which could do with a name, so I'll call Kevin - I love his WTF? expression at the end, before he runs off.)

New technology gives a wide-ranging plethora of weapons and gadgets, which you've exploited marvellously. How long did this take you to think through? I liked the way that you placed a classic gag of running out of fuel in as well - congratulations on thinking that one through.

Was the guy dead at the end or just badly mauled?

You've certainly done Jazza's audio piece credit. What does he think of it all?

zeedox responds:

Thanks for the review!
Most of the things such as the running out of fuel, some of the creatures and most other ideas I had for scenes came randomly or when I was bored.
I'll say the guy at the end is dead, although I don't mind whether it is interpreted as dead or badly mauled.
Kevin? I really think that suits him. From now on I'll call him that. Thanks for naming him ^_^

Nice animation, but

I was expecting some sort of fighting, rather than a verbal bashing. Yes, the punchline made me laugh and the whole concept, while having been done before, was well used.

I think that the best part of the animation was obviously the mouths, especially the way they looked like (__), which was clearly intentional. Great use of tweening there. Maybe if they fought a bit, it would look better, but I can't really say, as it looks pretty good without the random violence.

ShortMonkey responds:

Thanks. And the mouthes were actually FBF. ;-) I really wanted to do a Flash with a script as you can see this is my first. ;-)

Yes, it's Rad.

Audio: Some Loops Thrown Together. Did you just throw these loops together yourself after you'd made the flash, or did you throw them together and then think "This would be so much better with pictures" and make this animation?

Aside from the red growing animation, most of it was repeated early on, which does take a way from the final piece a little. Give us more of a buildup and less animation repeats and you're certainly onto a winner :)

Not that I'm saying I didn't like these tweens you've done, but you could have made them a little more complex... and longer as well.

I'd like to see you come up with an animation for one of SBB's pieces (Linked in the Review Request Club) - he's given us some pretty damn amazing pieces and if you could come up with a concept of a flash for them, well, I really would look forward to the finished product there :)

ShortMonkey responds:

I should check out his stuff and may use it in a Flash. Thanks for the review.

Concise

This is a very good example of how to maipulate sprites from the start to the finish, which is what a budding animator needs. I've never used Flash before, but could understand the instructions clearly, which certainly counts for something.

Are you going to make further tutorials, or are you going to move on to some sprite animations fo your own, to show us exactly how it is done.

[Review Request Club]

Dark-Heart responds:

Yeah, I'm still gonna make tutorials. Hopefully, I'll find the inspiration to actually work on a project I've been working on. Thanks for the kind review.

Surreal banter

But this does have some sort of impression to leave on the people searching for the deeper meanings of things :)

I think that when Gary crossed over the Zebra Crossing, his footsteps shouldn't have made a sound as if they were walking across a wooden floor. Just an observation :P

I do quite like the way that this thing turned out like a 5 minute soap opera, with Gary apparently banging his dead best mate's wife at some point.

Any further episodes of this in the pipeline?

[Review Request Club]

Inkovic responds:

If I continue the series it will be set in the past with a much more lighter tone.
Thanks for the review anyway

You know, I stopped shaving to think of something to write here. That worked out well.
