Yes, it's Rad.

Audio: Some Loops Thrown Together. Did you just throw these loops together yourself after you'd made the flash, or did you throw them together and then think "This would be so much better with pictures" and make this animation?

Aside from the red growing animation, most of it was repeated early on, which does take a way from the final piece a little. Give us more of a buildup and less animation repeats and you're certainly onto a winner :)

Not that I'm saying I didn't like these tweens you've done, but you could have made them a little more complex... and longer as well.

I'd like to see you come up with an animation for one of SBB's pieces (Linked in the Review Request Club) - he's given us some pretty damn amazing pieces and if you could come up with a concept of a flash for them, well, I really would look forward to the finished product there :)

ShortMonkey responds:

I should check out his stuff and may use it in a Flash. Thanks for the review.

Concise

This is a very good example of how to maipulate sprites from the start to the finish, which is what a budding animator needs. I've never used Flash before, but could understand the instructions clearly, which certainly counts for something.

Are you going to make further tutorials, or are you going to move on to some sprite animations fo your own, to show us exactly how it is done.

[Review Request Club]

Dark-Heart responds:

Yeah, I'm still gonna make tutorials. Hopefully, I'll find the inspiration to actually work on a project I've been working on. Thanks for the kind review.

Surreal banter

But this does have some sort of impression to leave on the people searching for the deeper meanings of things :)

I think that when Gary crossed over the Zebra Crossing, his footsteps shouldn't have made a sound as if they were walking across a wooden floor. Just an observation :P

I do quite like the way that this thing turned out like a 5 minute soap opera, with Gary apparently banging his dead best mate's wife at some point.

Any further episodes of this in the pipeline?

Inkovic responds:

If I continue the series it will be set in the past with a much more lighter tone.
Thanks for the review anyway

Only half the song

You've gotten off to the right start here - the animation's not exactly the best I've ever seen, but it's making good progress with the hamsters.

I'd say you really need to concentrate on the drawings of your band - zoom in closer, to give you greater control over the drawing implement and then you can come up with a neat basic outline. Look at the Madness series and see the faces - the cross is what you should use before putting the eyes on and you can use a similar horizontal line for the mouth. I'd give them a different colour than greay as well.

Since it's Weird Al, why not look for images of him and try to animate your own Al?

I'm really looking forward to seeing what this would look like if you finished the song :)

flashfrog responds:

ok i will

Almost there...

I'd say that this is a pretty damn good flash (I'm reccomending it for the Wierd Al collection, by the way) but it needs a few minor tweaks:

You need to watch the lip-sync. A very difficult task at the best of times, but there are a few minor places that it goes slightly awry. Certain parts of how he feels to me weren't conveyed as the best they could (The cactus should ahve gone up his nose at least, I couldn't see how you could show it to be red hot, in a black and white cartoon)

The other thing I would have considered is making the rest of the Barbershop Quartet, as that was the style of the song. One guy sings the bass and the other two sing close harmony background, which could ahve taken up a small space to the side and given you some nifty camera pan shots for when you inflicted the tortures upon the lead singer.

Obviously the choice of music was excellent - I'm going to get this as much exposure as it merrits - will you be making any further Weird Al themed flash movies, or just this one because of how good the song was?

[Review Request Club]

real-faker responds:

You know, I thought about doing the rest of the quartet when I started, but dismissed it thinking that it would be too much for me to take on at a time. I really like that idea though, so I might just go back and add something like that in. At a few points, just to be corny, I thought about making some of the objects (the blender, for instance) sing the harmonies. That might be too much to look at though, and hard to see without color. The cactus also, was a bit of a cop-out on my part, I will admit. I sat for a few minutes thinking about how to do it, and then decided that there was no way I had the patience... so I tried to just pull it off as a joke... "Hey... I'll just erase the cactus and have the guy looking like 'huh? what?' " But I don't know how well that played off either. XD

I don't know if I'll make any more... this was mostly just a choice for me because it's a pretty short song, it has some decent lyrics that would make for an entertaining animation, plus I didn't think that this song was one of his more popular ones (though I could be wrong) and I figured it might just be fun to do a song that not alot of people were familiar with already. But you never know, I just might venture into doing some more songs.
Thanks so much for your review and for reccomending it to the Weird Al collection!

Needs more

More of everything really - The traditional way of indicating a clock is talking is the kite-shaped icon which wobbles in time with the speech. I think it would make the animation look a whole lot better than making the characters wobble for the same purpose.

It needs finishing. After all, you've only produced 450k of file, so leaving it like that doesn't really qualify it as a full episode, with SBC being a spoilt brat and fucking with Banana's yo-yo.

I know it feels a little bit like desperation, trying to submit the file quickly, but if you could hold back for a week or two, you would be able to get a quality piece submitted, with better reviews and a higher score.

When will you have the next episode ready?

[Review Request Club]

xILK responds:

The next episode will be arriving A.S.A.P. I cannot guarantee better graphics, for I am not that good of an artist in flash. However, I will try my best to improve the graphics, and I will change the talking to the kite shaped object. The next one will be longer, please not the first was just the beginning to find out what is going on.

Interesting, but quiet

For me, there was quite a clash of the volume of the characters voiced by yourself, the robotic voice (speakonia?) and the music. When the characters talked so quietly, I had to turn up the volume, and then on comes the music, which was quite loud. Thank god you didn't put Dragon Force on first :P

Anyway, the animation is quite smooth - you don't even notice the characters changing shape when you manipulate them - something that even Knox suffers with from time to time.

How long does it take to make an episode of this stuff? I appreciate the decision not to lip-sync, it will save you a lot of time in the long run, so maybe you can give us more episodes without sacrificing the quality.

TechFlash responds:

It usually took about 5 days to finish animation for a 1 minute and 30 second film when I did lip syncing. Since this one was an experiment, it only really took about 5 hours to make entirely even though its about 2 mins. But my new one that'll be released tomorrow took 2 days, and it's about 3 or so minutes long including the editing. I know, this one's quality was God awful, thats what experiments usually are like for me, haha. But my knew one has both better quality, and sound. Plus it includes my new intro :D. Thanks for the review!

A little strange

Well, this one was a... different flash movie. I don't usually like screamers, but this one was funny. I like the look of the 'artwork' of the girl's bra, it was a little creepy, but I wouldn't honestly object to my girfriend wearing something like that :P

Not too sure about the picture spam - you've proved that you're an accomplished artist, so why use it? Why not draw something completely insane, I'm sure you could come up with a concept of, say, a carnivorous squid or something.

[Review Request Club]

MarkArandjus responds:

This flash was a sort of tribute to Giger. Everything, except the girl in the flash is based or is by Giger.
What can I say, I love Giger's work and Alien :)

Glad you found it odd, thanks for reviewing!

I jumped the wrong way

I thought that they'd both drop, which would have been an adequate punchline for such a poeticly laid out piece. I loved the detail on the sillouettes, especially the fly :)

It just goes to show what a good background colour selection can do for an animation such as this.

Good work, I'm looking forward to seeing some of your other pieces.

MarkArandjus responds:

Boy do I love the review request club ^__^

Thanks! And strangely enough I'm really glad peopel notice that lil fly, it's the the icing on a donut, the cherry on teh cream, the lil extra mile =P

Also I'm honored you like the composition, I have since always believed simplicity will prevail over complacancy :P

You've come a long way

This flash is by far and away your best effort to date - I love the way you've used the Tetris blocks for the various plot elements (Tetris surfing rocks!) and also the music.

You've really thought about this and while the animation proves that every instalment shows Jim is evolving, you've still amnaged to give us plotlines which are relatively simple and quite deep also (Four! What a genius!)

Certainly better than a Mario Parody, are there any other games you like?

[Review Request Club]

Jimtopia responds:

Thanks for all the compliments Coop83! I'm so glad you see that you liked this cartoon, and thanks for being so supportive! Anyway, in response to your question, I'm basically a fan of all retro style games.

You know, I stopped shaving to think of something to write here. That worked out well.
