Well...

Not a bad piece, though I would suggest that you do something along the lines of adding some colour to the proceedings - without that, there is a certain blandness of the proceedings, which could use ironing out.

I'd also like to see a menu feature in the flash - taking up so much space with links to parts 1 and 2 is never good, as it cuts down on the amount of canvas you can work with for the main part of the flash, which is the flash itself.

It's good work, but a few tweaks either way could certainly help matters.

Interesting

A shame that this didn't run longer, as it's certainly justified to run a lot further. If you would have extrapolated the dream scene for a little while longer, it would have made a much more poignant and lasting impression upon the viewer that even someone who has nothing can dream of what might be.

A deeply symbolic piece, with a nice setting of the calm tropical island with the beach and the clear blue waters, which paints a very relaxing, tranquil setting, struck bare by the stark contrast of the homeless person, living rough, with only his blanket for comfort.

Truly, we can only dream of the riches that might be, but without the dream, how are we to attain them at all?

Not bad

What I'd really suggest is that you spend some time with the notepad to jot down the best ideas and keep them in some sort of brainstorm file, where you can tick them off if you've done them, or just leave them for posterity.

The plot is nicely worked out, with a generous few crossings of the fourth wall, with the characters involved actually realising that they are in a game. It's nice to see that, as sometimes it's not always done well, but you've pulled it off nicely.

I'd like to see you take the action further, as Mario has completed a level on hard within about 20-30 seconds, which doesn't exactly cut it with me - show some more action, as that's what the fans will appreciate more.

Gustavos responds:

Actually that fight scene lasted for the duration of the song (80 seconds or something like that). As much as I like animating a good fight scene, I really have the need to tone it down for a while. Not much has made sense in this little plot. It's time to take advantage of the fact that the viewer can know more than the characters. Some people aren't too good at putting together the pieces of the puzzle, when the number of pieces isn't nearly all of them.

Thanks for the reveiw, I do need to get my ideas in order now more than ever.

Too short

I think that while you've shown aptitude for this sort of thing, you really need to focus your attentions on it, so that the idea can be allowed to flourish. With the current tirade of submissions from yourself being spam, you do tend to give a wrong impression about the quality of the flash.

Personally, I can't say much wrong about it, although, the diversion toward the swastika in the one phase, plus the overall length of the piece being a little on the short side could both do with attending to.

Five? Gosh, you make me ashamed to be an Englishman.

What the fuck?

Well, as far as games reviews go these days, that's pretty good for the satire on how much depth the plot has. Does it really have all these holes all over the place, or did you just make that up to try and make me feel better for turning my back on the Xbox :P

Great graphics, as always, though I'm sure you could have stood to get the other characters in there from Cogs 1, as they did appear, but without any lines. Doesn't the pussy blonde talk any more?

And as for Maria, that's just wrong... well, at least he didn't decide to rape her corpse, or something, I suppose.

So, while it could have used some more depth on the plot line, I will admit that you seem handicapped by the lack of stuff that the game producers actually gave you. Any word on the next project?

I'm working on a few things..stay tuned.

Nice message

I have to say, I totally agree with the thoughts on how musical quality has declined since the 80s, but I would have to point out that it came downhill from the 70s to the 80s, before rising toward the end of the decade and remaining around that level for the 90s, before plummeting again. It will go through a resurgence, I am sure.

A nice animation, that could do with a little more in the drawing department, but you're learning, so it is getting there. With a few more minutes spent drawing, you will make the whole piece look a whole lot better - try zooming in and using a smaller brush size to draw your creations with, as it would look less messy.

I'd also recommend that you get a tablet, as this would help mightily.

Good work, keep working on it, you've got the ability to go far, don't waste it.

LenardNotLenny responds:

I was trying to go for a simpler style, so that might account for the large brush size, but i prolly should re-do some of the drawings...

And tablets cost money, which I have none.

Needs work

I think that the method of moving the character according to the beat doesn't quite work - I think that with the application of better drawing and positional awareness, you would produce a much more fluid moving flash. I think that the part with ther launch looked better than this starting piece did.

An interesting colour scheme, coupled with an amazing perception of how this space travel thing works has made a decent fist of this flash, but it's down to producing the drawings in a good style to start with, then animating them accordingly. I'm not sure about how you made the alien look, but overall the effect was decent.

Great episode

So this is some sort of Teen movie combined with Jackass, isn't it?

I love the way that you've mixed the music in, with the cue for the ddom-laden shopping cart and thrown in some nice 80s throwback tunes to keep the whole thing working smoothly with the detention, although I'm not entirely sure where that's from...

The animation is great, though the characters could use a little more pronounced movement of the knees, when they walk, as at present, it's not quite there for them. I loved the writing and the way that this plot escalates quickly from a dumb plan to the Principle and other miscelaneous school teacher's need / desire for vengeance / a peaceful school day.

I can't wait for the next one :) Great work!

Pixmintro responds:

The movie referenced is the teen-movie classic, "The Breakfast Club". I've already started work on mew FBF walk cycles for the characters that look much more realistic. Thanks, I never did think about how the story turns on a dime at times. Next one hopefully soon! :)

You've got the start

Now that you've got the image drawn and a few overlays of the frames to make it look antiquated, it's a nice start of the project. Sadly, it is a little short and I think that you could take it further, with the obvious idea being to take this song to completion, showing us what you're capable of, as I don't think you've reached a ceiling yet.

The other thing is to not just manipulate one picture - have some other bits and pieces moving about - how about a band playing in front of the main image - I've seen that one used effectively with some mainstream videos. Even if you just stick in a few stick figures, you'll give it much more depth and it would look so much better. This would give you a video that does much more justice to the track.

Not bad

It's quite an interesting piece, that shows a rich history of the Babalonian Empire under Hammurabi. The only thing that you didn't show on the piece was a subtitled list of information that went along with the animation and the tune. The only other way to do that was to make an audio commentary.

If you could have shown us who the other armies were that rampaged across the territory of Babylon and were sent packing by the armies, it would have been better - what was he building through his leadership of the people? I know it was the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, but other people miy not be aware.

You know, I stopped shaving to think of something to write here. That worked out well.
