Touching

A great piece of symbolism here, even though I couldn't understand the language that the words were written in, I certainly got the jist of it all.

I liked the way that you've borrowed heavily from Terminator with the style of the male cyborg. It fits in nicely and you've come up with an unusual 'shield shaped' face, which does look quite creepy.

This whole flash has had the effect of making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up on end and you've certainly given me a chill.

Certain parts of your animation need to be tweaked slightly - the bleeding seems a little obsessive and just done with an MS Paint tool, which does detract slightly. If you splatted it less and made the drops slightly finer, it would look much better

MrGUS responds:

Really good advice there, that particular scene did feel a bit uncomfortable, but I couldn't put my finger on why... that would probably increase the atmosphere on that one alot... maybe even a bit of sliding from the drops on the wall.

Needs to finish

It sounds like the song is going on for a little longer than the animation, so I'd urge you to address that particular issue first and foremost.

I liked the preloader and how it associated itself with your own logo, making that one big neat part of the whole flash.

I like the way that you take some random bits and pieces and cobble it together into a working flash for this tune. You do need to get an audio credit on the submission information, just to tidy it up. I know you've added it to the credits, but a nice one is the link to Amazon on the flash information, just under your username.

MrGUS responds:

Thanks ,about the preloader, ha, I have it and was not sure about contiuing to use it... I probably will , I used the NG preloader for the last one and it's great and all, but it's true, having my particular logo-associated-preloader probably gives it more of a special feeling to it. And the audio credit has been posted.. I thought I had put it there when I submitted it, but apparently i didnt, thanks for mentioning that.

Review #837 (2)

Some people are never satisfied with the birthday presents that you get them :P

You got Andersson a nice birthday present (Iron Maiden for the win *waves cigarette lighter*) and now you've also got to get him a rocket launcher. I wonder who or what Satan / Andersson will be using that to blow up...

The only thing about this flash I didn't really like was the length, as I'm sure that you can come up with something with more than one scene. Yes, it's true. My expectation-ometer has cranked itself up a knotch for your flash. Feel my wrath!

The faggot(s) who flagged Afro_Stud's flashes.

Decent layout

For the record, it's spelt puppet, not puhpet.

I've watched this and it's clear that you've spent some time preparing the script for this movie. It shows and it's nice to know that you've done something this good - preparation makes for a better finished product, after all.

What I'd suggest is that you maybe do a little more of the cartoon with the guy falling off the cliff and turning into the angel, as the song seems to go on for quite a bit after your animation finishes, which takes away from the quality, as you've not filled the time effectively. Maybe have the angel do something, to demonstrate how much better he is, being one of a kind than part of the crowd?

MrGUS responds:

Ha yeah, I know ,I just liked it that way better. And thank god you saw the message of separating yourself from a crowd in this animation.. I know it's random, but I mean I didn't just do ramdomness from my point of view as alot of people think I did. And yes maybe elaborating a bit more on the "birth" of the angel could have been better, thanks.

There's something about Adolf

The weird hair style might have something to do with it, but I'm not quite sure. Have you ever considered getting him to was all of that wax out of his hair before he goes to bed?

Midford? I have friends who live there, I'll ahve to ask if they have spotted any Aipom (or is it Aipoms) there before. How can we be sure it is Somerset, as there was absolutely no evidence of Apples or Cider there at all!

Mind you, the Aipom did look slightly drunk...

Bring back the animations!

All Pokémon names are mass nouns.

Could have gone Futurama...

I quite like the list of swear words that you ahve replaced with others, but i would draw you attention to the Futurama quote "Now quit rubbing your axe-hole, get up and fight!" I think you might have missed a trick there, provided that you're alright on the plaigerism front...

Aside from that, Graham looks to be in fine form, with his new delivery service for the construction industry. At least that's how I interpreted Trucking Bricks :P

Shouldn't that have been a flick switch between bleep and replace? Still, a good flash anyway and Happy Censorship day to you (belated)

kinggila responds:

Afro_Stud does want to say Fag at times, so there's an off button just for him.

Gimmie an H!

Ah, so Skiploom has evolved into Hitler's personal cheerleader. What an interesting change.

I quite liked Hitler's disguise today, which seemed to only be missing a ra-ra skirt, although this may be taking things a little too far.

Good to see the little animated .gif, but I want to see more animation - maybe have Hitler march onto the flash at least, because I know that you can animate!

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

No way!

Buh...

Practise is the key. Tell your friend that. Do you use a tablet, or a mouse to draw them?

Aside from that, I'm not sure about the tactics for this flash - the drawing quality is poor (obviously) and you have shown that you've got more talent than this (not difficult), by drawing the outlines. I'd try and get something proper together, just to prove that you can really get the job done.

I was so dumb struck, I couldn't even bring myself to watch the remainder of the flash itself - I watched the Cow and Rabbit, but reasoned that they wouldn't get any better.

Graeme responds:

I don't think he aspires to be any sort of artist. He just draws when he has to.
But everything I do is with a mouse. I don't own a tablet.

Indeed the quality of the flash wasn't the greatest. This was a side project that didn't take very long, and I really enjoyed making it.
We talked about making a sequel, and spending more time on it. But it sounds like he'd rather not have to draw any more than necessary. And I myself would rather work on a few solo things for awhile.

Thanks for the review

Nice music

I loved the use of Prokofiev in the build up, although I've never seen that piece as particularly hate filled, despite it being the Montagues and Capulets from Romeo & Juliet :P I've always viewed it as more industrial working, belching out smoke and steam. Mind you, you did manage to capture that essence as well.

The love blimp must have some strange sort of gas within, if it can change the attitudes of these obviously male blimps so easily. Some sort of pheromones? Do they make ones that make women drop everything and chase after you? Can you put me in touch with a supplier?

Simple drawings, but I would suggest that you zoom in and use a smaller tool to draw the images - gives you better control and more clarity when you return to the normal size and it makes your lines look better, as well.

WritersBlock responds:

Thanks for the review. I haven't heard the song in the context of Romeo & Juliet. I just had it on CD, and I think it was a song on an old videogame (Asterix and Obelix and the Power of the Gods, or something like that =p). I kind of thought of it with the deep strings and the slow processional march feel, but the great thing about it is the interpretation. To be honest, I never actually saw the blimps as having specific genders (despite fighting and war associated with males and pink and love associated with women), so I didn't think of it as the flirtaceous loveblimp wooing over the men with her channel no. 5. And I'm sorry to say that if there were a gas that made women drop everything and run after you, you probably would have known about it by now =P.

The drawing: Yeah, I'm not the overly artistic type, I went for the undertoned rough look because it was quick and (kind of) stylish. I could have gone into more detail, but it was just a quick animation I threw together. Anything I might attempt in the future will be neater. Thanks for the tips.

Cheers.

Boulevard of broken dreams.

A nice idea, conveyed really well. I'm not exactly sure about the animation style, but for some reason it seems to work, even though my eyes and my brain say it really shouldn't.

The concept is original, as there always seems to be one fat bald guy playing football in the amateur leagues on a Sunday morning. He naturally is going to think that he's a god of the game and that anyone who disagrees can be trampled underfoot.

The punchline was delivered so well, without even a pause. I love the way that the radio is playing the same tune, but you removed the bass from it - it sounds great.

Once he's out cold in the bath tub, I'd have his wife (obviously not as glamorous walk in, turn off the shower, take the football away and shake her head, before turning off the radio and leaving the room.

Thankyouhs :]

You know, I stopped shaving to think of something to write here. That worked out well.
