Hell's Bells, am I nervous, or what?

So on Thursday, I had my last shift with the company that had been my employer for the last seven years, Haywood Homes. I've had some great times there, but in the view that we are not building at the moment and that since I was down to either 3 or 4 days a week, I needed something else to tide me over.

And so, as of tomorrow morning, I'll be making a 35 mile trip to work, down in Ashchurch, just on the other side of the motorway to Tewkesbury. A little further from the River Severn that I used to work, but still, a job is a job.

So, what will I be doing? Well, aside from the usual admin work, that I have been doing of late, I will also be expected to do a little more accountancy based stuff on Sage. Great, as it will expand my horizons and make things look better in the great scheme of things, plus on my CV. The work is very different to building houses, as this company is known as DSG, which specialises in Defence Support, so I probably won't be able to talk about it on here.

I'm nervous about it all, as this is a massive shift in my life, especially just before Xmas, but if I'm going to London for the next meet, I will have to get some money to buy drinks, transport and to put into the g-strings of the unsuspecting Newgrounders, such as Luis.

Wish me luck.

We wish you a lucky christmas.
And a happy new job.

Coop responds:

Xmas is still 15 days away, so plenty of time for that ;)

Thanks for the good wishes

Congrats on the new job. :)

Coop responds:

Thanks. Hopefully it's the start of something good.

Congrats and good luck!

35 mile commute to work is a bitch, though. :P

Coop responds:

Apparently it's only 45 minutes drive away, yet I'll be giving it 75 minutes tomorrow, just to be sure. After a few days, I might ease off a little, to get there on time, yet not have to hang around so much.

Congrats on the new job. So Defense Support, huh? You get to work with Q now, right? Build cool gadgets and tell 007 not to break them?

Coop responds:

I'm not allowed to talk about it, but yeah, I do.

You can call me by my MoD name - C

Congratulations! Hopefully it's all going swimmingly so far and you've figured out everyone's tea/coffee preferences for when it's your round at the kettle.

For future reference, I take coffee black and in my face at speed, at least according to a crazy girl I once knew.

For future-er reference, it wasn't coffee, it was an apple. Also it wasn't a girl, it was a guy. Also he wsn't crazy, although I don't have his mental health record to hand, so he might well have been.

Anyway in conclusion, hope the new job is good.

Coop responds:

I like my coffee how I like my women - ground up and in the freezer!

Also, it's going well - I've escaped on Xmas leave, so I'm not back in until January 2nd

Hey Coop! It's been a while! Glad to hear about your new job, I imagine you'll be receiving a security clearness to work in Defence. I hope to see a follow-up about your new surrounding, I'm sure you'll do fine good man! And of course, best of luck to ya!

Coop responds:

I've got Basic Clearance, so I can at least do some of the work intended. I've now got a computer account, on my 10th day in the place! Now I can do some real work, as well as processing people who will be visiting the base and what their clearance is, whether or not they have to be escorted and so forth.

Now to see if I can get used to the acronyms that crop up everywhere. Favourite one so far is the SPOC - Single point of contact for any major issues with my computer system.

I was checking out the songs at the Audio Portal when I found this:

I laughed my ass off. People get pissed off so easily when they get banned on the BBS. :P

Coop responds:

Thanks, I've given him a review.
