You know, I stopped shaving to think of something to write here. That worked out well.

Oh, and I should say something about your actual OP/topic... um... I don't tend to make New Year's resolutions, but I did start walking/jogging 1-2 (sometimes 3) miles a day on December 7th (the Monday after we got snow... in Houston... on december 4th... in the middle of the afternoon)... and haven't stopped as of now, the 15th of January.

(To explain, if you want more detail about the whens and whys... if not, tl;dr: we get snow once every 5 years here on average, usually in the middle of the night, though 2-3 years ago we got snow on Christmas Eve during daylight as well... and needless to say, in our semi-tropical winters here, snow on 12/24 was badass... Both that day and the day 6 weeks ago or so were pretty remarkable...

... but the bottom line personally is that I hate the heat here in my beloved-for-everything-but-the-climat e hometown 6-8 months every year, which means that the only workout window I have--as I like working out outdoors, not inside--is basically November-March, and that's being generous. The snow we got on Dec 4th = my wake up call to get moving, and I'm actually doing so seriously this time around, unlike the past 3 winters or so where I did more walking than usual, but not regimented enough for progress...

... so, to conclude: this time around, I have a spreadsheet, I'm tracking my times, distances, steps, heart rate, mph, etc.... and I have missed a total of 3 days (2 of which were due to work issues/long hours... the other 1 was a "eh, don't feel like it today" moment of weakness) out of 41 days since I started the logfile on the 7th of December. Also have a log for my vitamins, my fiancee's vitamins, and my own food... keeping rough track of caloric intake, varying it each day in the 1000 calorie range under the amount at which I would neither gain nor lose weight at my current weight.... and the net result is: I've lost 25 pounds so far. Win!)

Congratulations on the 25lb drop. Good work!

Also, with the Snow in Houston, I've seen pictures of my girlfriend's cousins, who aren't that old. The sheer wonderment on their faces, as I don't think they'd seen snow properly before, so they were truly impressed.

I emailed them and said they should have come to the UK - we were completely white ;)

FUCK YOU GFOX, STOP CALLING ME BAHA-MAN!!!!!ASRAFGEAWRETEAFGADSFA

Ah ah! No flame wars in my news posts!

And no gfoxcook / Baha-man Antics.

Congrats from teh gfoxclock as well!

Thanks for the workout camaraderie!

And lastly, re: snow + H-town vs. UK... yeah, I saw the pics/videos on Bahamut's account a few weeks ago... lovely looking powder you guys got. There's plenty of it on this side of the pond as well, just... not within 500 miles of here too often. ;_;

BUT... on the plus side of being in a fairly snowless area... I don't do nationwide-customer-service-that-invo lves-big-trucks-slipping-around-on-ic y-roads anymore (which was a headache every winter due to blizzards in the north and east...... though also every summer/autumn due to hurricane season, both affecting us directly here, where we'd have to relocate our HQ or... just... you know, New Orleans getting slammed that one year...)....

I do feel a deep, deep empathy for all those that still do (have to deal with that... every. damned. blizzard.).

Yeah, I understand - the North-East had a pretty tough few weeks with those blizzards sweeping part of the country.

And I'm never a fan of hurricanes, especially because of the knobs who chase after them and expect to be put up, because their vehicle gets trashed.

GET OUTTA HERE, DAMNED CLOCK!

Oh, and don't worry about teh flame wars. I don't see no flame wars. What on earth are you even talking about? Who are you talking to? etc. etc. etc. #;-}>
